Quality Recess Makes a Big Difference

Recently I read an article in which a mother details the conversation she had with her two sons about their experience with indoor recess through the cold winter.  The kids said that indoor recess was “more fun” and “more safe,” they liked it better.  This conversation lead to an article in the Globe and Mail titled “When Kids Dread Recess, We Have a Problem.”  You can read the entire article here.


Change Recess by Encouraging Students to Take on Leadership Roles

Recess is a very important time for students to reap the benefits of physical activity and to build strong social skills through play experiences.  However, many students are not getting an adequate amount of physical activity during this time.  What’s more, recess can also be a time where instances of negative behavior and bullying can rise.
