Nutrition Sessions at Teacher’s Convention

Posted in: Blogs, Healthy Eating

Teacher’s Convention is just around the corner. This year Nutrition Services Registered Dietitians have applied to lead 2 sessions on February 22. A great opportunity to learn about some nutrition resources and answer any nutrition related questions you might have. See below for more information. Hope to see you there!

Session: Nutrition Myths Demystified

When: Thurs, February 22, morning (60 min)

Description: Learn ways to energize your body with snacks and meals while at work. Join an interactive session with Alberta Health Services Registered Dietitians as they discuss healthy eating ideas and tips for personal wellness. Find out the facts about common nutrition questions such as: “do I need supplements to be healthy?”, “is multi-grain the same as whole grain?”, and “are food labels difficult to use?” You will leave with a variety of healthy eating resources and tools to help you improve your diet.

We are partnering with EverActive Schools to be one of their concurrent sessions within their symposium.

Session: Make it Easy! Nutrition Activities for Your Classroom

When: Thurs, February 22, afternoon (60 minutes)

Description: Looking for new ideas on how to teach nutrition to your Junior or Senior High students? Get fired up for this session!  Come and try out hands-on interactive activities designed to enhance the nutrition knowledge of youth. You’ll move around the room to a number of different stations – each designed to highlight key nutrition messages in a fun and engaging way. Participants will learn how each activity can be applied and expanded in the classroom.   Best of all, you can access all the nutrition activities through our online resource titled, “Nutrition Activities in Any Classroom- Teachers Guide” where you will find the printable materials needed to complete the stations.
