Exercise is Good for Your Mental Health

We know that physical activity is important to improving physical health, but did you know that physical activity is also key in improving mental health?  Today’s teens are experiencing heightened anxiety and more stress than some adults today (cite).  In a world where digital devices keep social pressures constantly in their back pockets, and academic institutions are asking more and more of our young people, exercise might be their best defense against stress and anxiety.

Empathy Skills = happy and successful students!

Empathy is not simply an innate trait, it is something that can (and should) be taught.  Evidence shows that kids who have greater skills in empathy are more successful and happy.  Cultivating empathy in our children, “affects our kids’ future health, wealth, authentic happiness, relationship satisfaction, and ability to bounce back from adversity.

As teachers you are busy caring for others and may not feel supported or even remember to take time for yourselves. Remember to look after yourself. Find balance in your life, eat well, be active, get enough sleep and take time to connect with others.

In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently linked with greater happiness.
